History

It's important to note there have been two incarnations of WRUN-FM. The first signed on in 1946, two years ahead of its AM sister station, a rare occurrence for that time. The original WRUN-FM and its 100,000 watt signal are known today as WFRG-FM. More details about the "original" WRUN-FM can be found on the Wiki entry for WUTI, which was previously known as WRUN from 1948-2009.

The present-day WRUN-FM first signed on the air on December 16, 2008, as a repeater for the Northeast Public Radio network, headquartered at WAMC in Albany. According to FCC records, the transmitter is located off Crowell Road, a few miles northwest of the Village of Remsen.
