WSYR news staff changes

October 8, 2003 by Scott Jameson

The departure of 570 WSYR's news director and afternoon anchor, Bill Carey, to Time Warner's new 24-hour news cable channel News 10 Now, left WSYR with some slots to fill.

Reporter Bill Colley has taken over afternoon anchor duties.

Meanwhile, veteran anchor and assistant news director Chris Weidman says the search for a news director continues. Weidman isn't looking at the top spot for himself, saying that his interests and talents lie with his role as primary anchor and that he is "content serving in the bridesmaid position" on the news department's management team.

Elsewhere in the newsroom, Ellen Abbott is returning as a reporter after a several year hiatus, and former WSYR reporter Adam Chodak has joined News 10 Now as a videojournalist.
