Important context regarding this data

Nielsen only provides “topline” radio ratings data to media outlets like CNYRadio.com. For those who may be unfamiliar with what that means, we hope this explanation is helpful:

  • Subscribing stations only – Nielsen only shares the topline ratings for stations that maintain paid subscriptions to the company’s full ratings reports (a/k/a “the book”). Nielsen does not publicly release any ratings data for non-subscribing stations.
  • Overall averages – The topline ratings reflect the overall average for all listeners ages 12 and up, Monday through Sunday between 6:00am and midnight local time.

In other words, the listings above cannot be considered true “rankings” because non-subscribing stations are omitted. It’s also worth noting that the overall ratings do not necessarily reflect a station’s performance with any particular daypart and/or target demographic.
