SYRACUSE — For the first time in years, we’ve got no idea whether the “top 40 leader” in Syracuse is iHeart’s Hot 107.9 (WWHT) or Cumulus’ 93Q (WNTQ). The latest topline ratings data from Nielsen doesn’t include data for 93Q or any other Cumulus stations.

SYRACUSE — Former local radio personality and programmer Peter McElvein, known for awhile by his on-air alias “Pete McKay,” has died, according to an obituary shared by a longtime CNYRadio reader.

SYRACUSE — A day after announcing the exit of Hall of Fame broadcaster Rick Gary from its Sunny 102 (WZUN), Galaxy Media Partners announced several back office promotions including a new Chief Operating Officer and a new Chief Content Officer.

SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME — “Big Smoothie” is off the lineup at Galaxy’s KROCK stations after more than 8½ years on the trio of signals covering two neighboring radio markets. The longtime local radio personality confirmed his exit with an online video.

SYRACUSE — Celebrating a full year of “The Jim Reith Show Unleashed,” longtime local talk host Reith and Producer Bill Ali are going “live before a studio audience” for the 52nd installment of their podcast. It’s happening Saturday at the 443 Social Club and Lounge in Syracuse.

SYRACUSE — Longtime local sportscaster Jim Lerch has announced “The Manchild Show with Boy Green” is coming to an end this month. The show’s final episode on The Score 1260 (WSKO) will be Friday, June 27, two weeks from today.

SYRACUSE / UTICA-ROME — The trio of locally-owned KROCK stations announced plans for its “Krockathon Reboot” concert this morning. The July 26 show at the New York State Fairgrounds will feature three returning Krockathon bands along with two bands which are new to the Krockathon series.

ITHACA — Former Syracuse radio personality Dave Frisina is coming back to the airwaves in Central New York by way of his home studio in Florida. Today, Frisina announced his weekly show “Soulshine” will air on Ithaca’s WVBR 93.5 starting this weekend.
