Arbitron: Country is king in Syracuse

October 22, 2003 by Scott Jameson

B104.7 (WBBS), Syracuse's long-running radio ratings champ, took a commanding lead in the latest numbers released by Arbitron.

B104.7 garnered a 12.4, which gives the country station a comfortable lead of 5.2 ratings points over 93Q (WNTQ) which barely held on to second place.

Traditional country isn't doing too badly either; WSCP AM/FM doubled its audience and moved from 16th to 10th in the market with a 3.2 rating.570 WSYR, which has had its fair share of bad press lately, received its worst 12+ numbers in more than two years, dropping to fourth place in the summer book, a ratings period that is traditionally a tough one for the news-talk station.

Citadel's 95X (WAQX) bounced back from seventh place to a tie with Y94FM (WYYY) for fifth, while sister station Lite 105.9 (WLTI) dropped 1.8 ratings points. Alternative rock stations K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH) and New Rock 105 (WWDG) both saw dips in their numbers as well.

Numbers are for listeners 12+ in all dayparts and are not necessarily indicative of ratings in key sales demographics.
