The Mars Hill Network of Christian stations, based in Syracuse, says live performances from local musicians, on-the-road reports, and a free concert with a nationally-known Christian recording artist will be among the highlights of "Careathon '08." The three-day long fundraising effort is set to begin next Thursday.
The Careathon will run from 6:00am on Thursday, April 24 through midnight on Saturday, April 26. Mark Hard, Mars Hill Director of Ministry Relations, says the 19-station network is supported in part by listener gifts, which are tax-deductible.
The highlight of the event is a free concert with Christian recording artist Damaris Carbaugh on Saturday, April 26 at 7:00pm. The concert will take place at North Syracuse Baptist Church at 420 South Main Street in North Syracuse.
The Mars Hill Network's flagship station is 102.9 WMHR-FM in Syracuse. It also has full-power stations in the north country at 102.9 (WMHI Cape Vincent) and 90.1 (WMHQ Malone). The station list also includes translators in Ithaca (101.7 on-air or 93.7 on cable) and Little Falls (100.3).
