Galaxy's Mix 102.5 (WUMX Rome) has a new morning host, according to AllAccess.com and confirmed by Program Director Ted Bradford. The new guy's name is Sammy Schrier, and he hails from Entercom's WBEE (Rochester), where he served as morning show producer.
Schrier replaces the syndicated "Wake Up With Whoopi" show, which was canceled late last month, only a few months after flagship station WKTU New York dropped the show, along with a few other big-market affiliates. WUMX was one of just 5 affiliates still carrying Goldberg's show until the very last day, despite starting the search for a new morning host months earlier.
Schrier's addition should be welcome news to Bradford, who has been handling morning drive duties since Whoopi went off the air. Bradford tells us Schrier will be introduced soon, and will officially take over mornings on May 5th. Schrier will be based out of Galaxy's Kellogg Road studios in New Hartford.
