In an e-mail sent to its Listener Club today, Utica's Newsradio 950 WIBX says it will begin a two-week long food drive on Monday, to benefit the Community Food Bank of Greater Utica. WIBX is also promoting that it is the only radio station with live coverage of this year's Boilermaker Road Race.
The race is set to run Sunday, July 13. The starting gun is at 8am, but WIBX's coverage begins an hour earlier. As usual, the WIBX Sports Team will be joined by running experts Roger Robinson and Katherine Switzer.
For the food drive, listeneners are asked to drop off non-perishable items at the WIBX studios on River Road in Marcy. The station will finish off the effort with local morning talk show "First Look" live on location at the Food Bank on the final day of the drive.
