Bob Brown Replaced at Oldies 1390

February 12, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Less than a year after he was hired as morning host for the new Oldies 1390 (WFBL), Bob Brown has been removed from the shift, but remains on-staff part-time as a substitute.  As you may have expected, station management blames the economic climate.

Buckley Syracuse GM Judy Kelly tells CNYRadio.com, "current economic conditions simply made the cut unavoidable," but adds, "Bob did a great job for us and I greatly appreciate his talent."  Kelly says Brown is now the  "primary alternate" when other jocks on WFBL or sister station Classic Hits 92.1 (WSEN) take vacations or call in sick.

The Oldies 1390 website now lists Floyd Wright as the morning show host, with banner ads encouraging listeners to "Start Your Day off 'W'right."  A quick Google search reveals how Wright is a money-saver for the company -- he's also the midday host at Buckley sister station WDRC-FM, in the Hartford, CT market.

No word on whether Wright is doing his Syracuse shift live or pre-voicetracked, but the two airshifts overlap by an hour.  He's on WFBL from 6-10am, and on WDRC from 9am-2pm.
