Y94FM Goes All-Christmas

November 12, 2009 by

SYRACUSE -- There are now two AC stations in the market offering Christmas music around the clock: Clear Channel's Y94FM (WYYY) flipped the switch today.

Just like last year, liners identify Y94 as "Your Christmas Music Station," and the website has an entirely new look to go along with it.  (Screen shot at left is from last year, but looks essentially the same this year.)  But unlike last year, it appears the station went all-Christmas on-air and online at the same time.  (In 2008, WYYY started offering an all-holiday internet stream about 2 weeks before they changed the on-air playlist.)

The move makes Y94 the third station (of which we're aware) in territory to get the Kris Kringle treatment.  Earlier this month, Galaxy flipped Sunny 102.1 (WZUN) in the Syracuse market and Mix 102.5 (WUMX) in the Utica-Rome market.

Our thanks to the observant readers who pointed this out earlier in the day.  We wanted to get the story posted hours ago, but HQ is in the process of moving, and internet access has been somewhat sporadic over the past few days.  (Hoping to have the move completed this weekend, and things should return to normal.)

If you happen to hear any other stations going all-Christmas and it hasn't been posted here yet, be sure to send us a heads-up -- or use the Contact Form.
