SYRACUSE -- Believe it or not, it's been 20 years since Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning host "Big Mike" Fiss presented his very first collection of holiday favorites performed by local musicians. So why is this year's "Christmastime in Syracuse" being labeled as Volume 15?
As explained on Mark Bialczak's Listen Up blog, when the series first started, the first three volumes were sold on cassettes, and it wasn't an annual project. This year's "Greatest Hits" collection is the 15th CD in the series, which is now an annual offering.
The CDs are on sale at local P&C supermarkets for $10 each, and proceeds will be donated to the Elmcrest Children's Center and Casey's Place.
See Bialczak's article on syracuse.com for a complete listing of artists who appear on the CD and details about one new-for-2009 recording that's included among all the classics.
