ITHACA/CORTLAND -- For 12 hours tomorrow, you've got the chance to request virtually any song you want on any of three radio stations in the Cayuga Radio Group owned by Saga Communications. It'll cost you -- but the money's going to a good cause. It's "Tunes for Tails" to benefit the SPCA of Tompkins County.
Classic Rock I-100 (WIII), Lite Rock 97.3 (WYXL) and market leader Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY) will be "live and all-request" from 6am to 6pm on Saturday. All you have to do is call the radio station of your choice and make a donation of at least $10 for the SPCA. According to the WIII website (which also includes request lines for all three stations), random callers will be selected to make their request or dedication on the air.
The station cluster notes that the SPCA of Tompkins County is an "open admission/no kill" facility, providing shelter, food and treatment to more than 3,000 animals every year. If you won't be in town or don't want to request a song, you can make donations of any amount, anytime, through a special secure website that's been established for the fundraiser.
