SYRACUSE -- The popular Taste of Syracuse Festival, coordinated by local radio station owner Galaxy Communications, is getting some statewide publicity this year. The event is one of just eight to be featured in this year's series of "I Love NY Travel Guide" radio spots to be aired statewide.
This year's Taste of Syracuse will be held on June 4th and 5th, in and around Clinton Square. Galaxy says they'll have over 100 restaurants lining the streets, offering samples from their menus, and crowds are expected to total over 150,000. To help reach that goal, there will be three stages for music performances, with Edgar Winter headlining the schedule for Friday the 4th, while Saturday the 5th's main attraction will be The Charlie Daniels Band.
Pam Levine, Director of the Taste of Syracuse Festival, says Galaxy is "very proud to have Taste of Syracuse selected as one of the premier events in New York State. It's great to know that Taste has become the ambassador for all of Syracuse's summer events."
We're told the events to be featured in the spots -- with that famous "I Love New York" theme music -- are chosen by the Empire State Development Department in Albany. The spots are then distributed to radio stations all over the state.
Admission to the festival and the concerts is free.
