ITHACA/CORTLAND -- Saga's "Cayuga Radio Group" is adding more NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting trophies to its collection. The station won a pair of awards at NYSBA's annual awards competition last night in Bolton Landing, north of Albany.
The cluster won for "Best Public Service Announcement/Campaign" for a series of PSAs promoting a fresh produce program at a local elementary school. In a press release, GM Susan Johnston specifically thanked Jason Kester for writing and producing the spots, along with students and officials at the school for their cooperation.
The second award came from a new category this year: "Best Local Interactive Sales Campaign," recognizing the success of the cluster's online store at CayugaMarketPlace.com, where shoppers can purchase gift certificates from local businesses at up to 50% off face value. For this award, Johnston specifically thanked website manager Autumn Greenberg.
Cayuga Radio Group owns and operates 7 radio stations: Q Country 103.7 (WQNY), Lite Rock 97.3 (WYXL), rocker I-100 (WIII), News Talk 870 WHCU, Progressive Talk 1470 WNYY, Hits 103.3 (WYXL-HD2), and 98.7 The Vine (WYXL-HD3).
As of late Tuesday morning, the NYSBA hasn't released the complete list of awards. If and when they do, we'll post a complete list of winners from CNYRadio.com territory -- but until then, if your station or cluster won any awards, please let us know and we'll be happy to spread the word.
