SYRACUSE -- According to the Syracuse Press Club, the 10pm newscast on CW6 (WSTQ-LP) will expand from 30 minutes to a full hour starting tonight. SPC says Lisa Spitz will join Matt Mulcahy as producer and co-anchor.
On the CNYCentral website for WSTQ, WSTM and WTVH, Mulcahy says "Expanding to an hour will give viewers even more opportunity to get their news and weather at a more convenient time," as opposed to waiting until 11:00pm.
The CNYCentral story says expanding the newscast will also allow more time to be devoted to weather coverage.
As reported earlier, ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 will enter the 10pm news race with a 15-minute newscast on WSYR-DT 9.2 starting next Tuesday, September 7. After it airs live, the show will be repeated continuously until 11pm.
