ITHACA/CORTLAND -- There are some new voices coming to the radio dial in Ithaca. The recently-under-new-ownership ESPN Radio 1160 (WPIE) has hired the host for its first local talk show and CHR station Z95.5 (WFIZ) has a new night jock.
At Z95.5, the new night guy is "Anthony from the Deli." According to AllAccess.com, Anthony's resume includes weekend/swing stints at Top 40 stations in Jacksonville, Florida and Long Island. He'll begin his new job at Z95.5 on October 18th.
Anthony's hire fills an opening left by former night "ZJ" Mikey V, who announced last month that he's taking a similar job at a station in the much larger city of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Taughannock Media, the relatively new owners of WPIE 1160, are making good on promises to expand local programming on the ESPN Radio affiliate's lineup.
Jim MacKay has been hired to host the station's first-ever local weekday talk show, according to the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America, which represented the 2009 University of Maine graduate in his job search. In addition to hosting the new afternoon drive talk show, MacKay will handle live play-by-play of local high school sports. And if the plate's not full enough with those duties, STAA says MacKay will also be taking care of traffic and production.
MacKay comes from Winston-Salem, North Carolina's WSJS, where he worked as Sports Director. He also held down studio hosting duties for college football and basketball games for ISP Sports.
No word yet on the title or exact timeslot for MacKay's new weekday show, or when it will debut.
