SYRACUSE -- Fans of A Prairie Home Companion, the NPR program that was the basis for a 2006 film of the same name, will be able to watch a live broadcast of the show, in high-definition on the big screen, at two local movie theaters later this month.
While the show is normally broadcast live on Saturdays from 6-8pm Eastern, this special edition will be broadcast to theaters across the country on Thursday, October 21 at 8:00pm. Local affiliate WRVO says the live broadcast will be shown at Regal Cinemas locations at Carousel Center in Syracuse and Shoppingtown Mall in DeWitt. Tickets will be $22 each.
If you can't make the date for the live show -- or you want to save a few bucks -- an encore presentation will be offered at both locations on Monday, October 25th at 7:30pm. Tickets will be just $18 each.
More details, including links to buy tickets online, are available on the WRVO website.
WRVO says A Prairie Home Companion's first live video broadcast, last spring, was very well-received.
