ITHACA -- Plenty of good news at the end of 2010 for WHCU evening news anchor Syl Kacapyr is not-so-good news for the Saga-owned news/talker. Syl got engaged and got a new job, so now the station is looking to hire a replacement.
The following comes to us from Assistant PD Dave Vieser:
News/Talk 870/95.9 FM WHCU Ithaca, NY evening news anchor Syl Kacapyr had a busy end of 2010. He took his girlfriend to New York City and proposed to her at Rockefeller Centre. (She said yes.) He returned to the southern shore of Cayuga Lake and was hired at Cornell University and begins work in the media relations office of the Ivy League school almost immediately.
This leaves the Saga station with an immediate full-time opening for news reporter. ND/PD Geoff Dunn is looking for someone who can jump right into the role of anchor/reporter for the station. Along with on-air experience, excellent writing skills, and social network suaveness, the finalist for this job will be a leader in developing news stories; reporting live on breaking news; and managing the news assignments each day.
