SEATTLE -- Syndicated love songs host Delilah, whose show is carried by radio stations in the Syracuse and Utica-Rome markets, shared some sad news from her personal life over the weekend. One of her sons, Samuel Young Dzolali Rene, lost his life to sickle cell anemia yesterday.
Delilah asked listeners to keep Sammy in their prayers on Saturday, writing on Facebook, "please pray for my son Sammy. He has been in the hospital for 10 days now due to his sickle cell anemia, and last night he took a turn for the worst and is now fighting for his life,on life stupport, in ICU."
Yesterday, she posted an update that the young man had passed, and in a second update, she shared a self portrait of Sammy.
Out of Delilah's 12 children, Sammy was one of eight she adopted, according to Radio Online.
Delilah's self-titled radio show clears in "about 200 markets," according to a recent CNN report. Among those affiliates, Clear Channel's Y94FM (WYYY) in Syracuse and Townsquare's Lite 98.7 (WLZW) in Utica-Rome. Both stations carry the show Sunday through Friday from 7pm to midnight.
