SYRACUSE -- Do you know how a local elementary school teacher wound up becoming "Big Mike" Fiss' morning co-host on Sunny 102 (WZUN)? Take a look inside the pages of the June edition of Syracuse Woman magazine and you'll learn this and more about Melissa Midgley.
Proud of his co-host, Fiss wrote in to point out the article, which begins on page 36 of the magazine, available for free at many locations in the Syracuse area. It's also available online if you can't find a copy.
Midgley is one of three women profiled for the magazine's "Syracuse Women Inspire" feature. In the article, the elementary school teacher recalls how she got her start in radio simply by calling in one morning to vent with Big Mike about the previous night's episode of American Idol. After becoming a regular caller, she was eventually invited to co-host with Fiss.
While regular listeners might be familiar with Midgley's two jobs, some may not have realized that she had to work extra hard to get where she is today. You can find out why -- and learn about her third job -- by reading the magazine.
