UTICA-ROME -- There's a new evening show on Townsquare Media country station Big Frog 104 (WFRG). The syndicated Taste of Country Nights debuted last night, bumping Premiere's Lia at Night to the overnight shift. WFRG is among more than 30 Townsquare stations clearing the new evening show.
The show borrows its name from Townsquare's country music news website, Taste of Country. The brand itself actually traces its roots back to an annual concert hosted by WYRK, a Townsquare country station in Buffalo, according to Tom Taylor in this morning's edition of Taylor on Radio-Info.
The show's own website says WYRK, is also an affiliate of the new show... as are Albany's WGNA and the Big Kat stations in Norwich (95.3 WBKT) and Walton (92.1 WDLA), a bit outside of the CNYRadio.com coverage area. The website says the show "offers a house party atmosphere" with various features including a top 5 countdown and celebrity guest appearances. The Band Perry appeared on last night's debut.
As we mentioned earlier, the addition Taste of Country Nights at WFRG puts Lia on the overnight shift. In turn, she displaces "Zach Effrog," who had been voicetracking the shift. However, he remains with the station for live weekend shifts and other capacities within the cluster.
