Strong winds and heavy rains caused Utica stations 94 K-Rock (WKLL) and Rock 107 (WRCK) to go silent for a while last night. The Galaxy Communications stations went dark at around 6:30 p.m. due to electical problems at their Smith Hill towers.

The staff at local public radio station WRVO were smiling at the end of this year's eight-day fall fundraiser. Listeners pledged a total of $110,000, which was $10,000 more than the station's targeted goal. WRVO and it's affiliate stations broadcast from transmitters in Oswego, Syracuse, Utica, Cortland, and Watertown.

Mimi Griswold named new Galaxy VP

Galaxy Communications has named Mimi Griswold as the group's vice president of programming for Galaxy stations in Syracuse, Utica, and Albany. Griswold, who is also known as host of TK-99/105's popular Blue Moon Cafe show on Sunday mornings, had most recently served as operations manager and program director for the chain's Syracuse and Utica stations.
