OSWEGO/SYRACUSE — Longtime WRVO Corporate Support Representative Tom Herbert is heading inland, away from the stiff breezes on the SUNY Oswego campus.  He has accepted a similar position with the Mars Hill Network of religious-formatted stations, based in Syracuse.

OSWEGO — The next phase in selecting the design for WRVO’s commemorative 40th Anniversary Coffee Mug is underway.  The station has narrowed the entries down to their five favorite designs, and now they’re asking for your help in choosing a winner.

OSWEGO — The WRVO Stations are calling on listeners with some artistic talent to help celebrate their 40th anniversary. They’re accepting designs for a special edition coffee mug which will be made available this fall.

OSWEGO — “Listen,” the official newsletter of the WRVO stations, is now available online.  The station says it will continue to mail out hard copies, but it’s encouraging listeners to switch to the online format in an effort to save paper.

While researching histories for the CNYRadio.com Station Wiki, we stumbled upon a little treasure… an entire gallery of photos posted by Mike Doughney, a former co-owner of Fulton’s WOSC 1300 (today WAMF).

SYRACUSE — The slate of Syracuse Press Club Award winners has been announced… and not one commercial radio station appears on the list.  In fact, all of the radio awards — including the Career Achievement Award — are being divvied up amongst two public stations.

OSWEGO — After just a few weeks of hosting the local segments WRVO’s Morning Edition, Jason Smith says he loves the job.  And while he feels at ease behind the mic, you’d be surprised to know he hates public speaking.

Governor David A. Paterson was all over Central New York today — both physically, and on the radio.  Here at CNYRadio.com HQ, we counted no less than three stations where the Governor provided live interviews today.

SYRACUSE — If you work in downtown Syracuse and you rely on WRVD 90.3 to listen to the programming of the WRVO stations, you may be left in the dark for most of the day on Tuesday, March 31.

OSWEGO — In case you forgot, today’s the last day on the air for longtime WRVO fixture John Hurlbutt.  The local host of “Morning Edition” is retiring after 40 years at the Oswego-based NPR affiliate.  Morning news producer/reporter Jason Smith will assume hosting duties tomorrow.
