Syracuse.com adds new radio/television message board February 21st, 2002 The Syracuse Post Standard‘s online web site Syracuse.com has created a new forum dedicated to the discussion of local and national radio and television. SAMMYs tickets go on sale January 4th, 2002 Tickets went on sale today for the 2002 Syracuse Area Music Awards show which returns to the Landmark Theater on Friday, February 1. The biennial event which honors local musicians is sponsored in part by Galaxy Communications.
K-Rock’s Silent Bob releases local compilation CD October 26th, 2001 Next Monday, Native Noize hits area record stores. The album, put together by K-Rock’s midday DJ “Silent Bob” Staffa, features a number of local acts, most of which have appeared on his Thursday night Backstage Live program at 11 p.m. on K-Rock.
Celebrating Galaxy’s move to Armory Square October 18th, 2001 70’s pop group Orleans was on hand earlier in the month at an invitation-only party celebrating Galaxy Communications’ move from Bridgeport to Armory Square.
K-Rock, Dakota, Ted and Amy voted ‘Best of Syracuse’ October 11th, 2001 The Syracuse New Times has released its fifth annual ‘Best of Syracuse’ reader poll. Winners in the radio categories include K-Rock (WKRH/WKRL) for best station, Dakota of Hot 107-9 (WWHT) for best local disc jockey, and best local morning show honors once again go to 93Q’s (WNTQ) Ted Long and Amy Robbins.
K-Rock’s ‘Silent Bob’ finishing up local artist CD October 5th, 2001 Local modern rock acts Tread, Earth Crisis, and Gridley Paige along with ten other bands are part of a new compilation CD being put together by K-Rock’s midday air personality “Silent Bob” Staffa. Native Noise celebrates Staffa’s local-music radio show Backstage Live, broadcast Thursdays at 11 p.m.
K-Rock and TK up in latest trends September 27th, 2001 Monthly Arbitron trends for Syracuse were released yesterday and Galaxy Communications’ rock stations fared well. Galaxy Communications moves to Armory Square July 7th, 2001 The folks at Galaxy Communications have settled into and begun broadcasting from their new digs in Armory Square. The Walton Street studios and offices house operations for TK-99/TK-105, Sunny 102, and K-Rock stations.
