According to radio-info.com, former local radio news anchor Matt DelSignore has landed an anchor job at the legendary KDKA in Pittsburgh.  DelSignore most recently worked for Clear Channel’s WGY in Albany.  Before that, he worked at sister station WSYR in Syracuse and then-Regent’s WTNY in Watertown.

An unfortunate explanation for radio legend Paul Harvey’s extended time away from the broadcast booth over the past several weeks.  His wife, Lynne, passed away Saturday morning at the age of 92.  According to ABC News, Lynne Harvey had been battling leukemia for about a year.  Paul Harvey’s syndicated content can be heard locally on

Calling hours are tonight for Barb Gibbons, a longtime Syracuse radio personality who died last Saturday following a sudden illness.  Gibbons, 65, had worked at WNDR, WFBL, WNTQ, and WSYR.

Dates for radio and TV talk show host Glenn Beck’s “Summer Political Tour ’08” have been announced, and Syracuse is one of just 8 cities on the list.

Newsradio 570 WSYR is once again picking up the leave-behinds from WFBL’s abandoned news/talk format. The station is airing promos stating it will begin carrying Laura Ingraham on Sunday afternoons, starting May 4.

The press office of New York State Governor David A. Paterson today announced a statewide “radio town hall tour,” which begins next week.  On Tuesday, Paterson is scheduled to appear on The Jim Reith Show on Syracuse’s Newsradio 570 WSYR.  The talk show airs weekdays from 3-7pm.

Syracuse’s Newsradio 570 WSYR will have to wait another year to try for one of the coveted NAB Crystal Radio Awards.  As we reported last month, WSYR was one of 50 finalists in the entire country, but only 10 stations would win.

Clear Channel Syracuse is now accepting team registrations for the 3rd Annual Bill Leaf Kickball Tournament.  Leaf was working as a reporter for Newsradio 570 WSYR, and a part-time sportscaster for WTVH-TV, when he was killed by a drunk driver in 2006.  This year’s tournament will take place on Saturday, May 17th at Onondaga Lake

We aren’t sure how old this is — there were no dates mentioned on 570 WSYR’s website, but morning show host Joe Galuski recently celebrated 20 years with the station.

When WFBL flips formats from news/talk to oldies on Monday, at least one of its syndicated hosts will remain on the air in Syracuse.  Newsradio 570 WSYR is running on-air promos stating it will begin carrying “The Savage Nation” with Michael Savage on Monday evening.
