Paul Harvey, who has been off the air for a couple of months due to severe laryngitis, is expected to be away from the microphone for at least another six weeks.
ABC News Radio vice president Chris Berry reports that Harvey was diagnosed with a weakened vocal cord and will undergo an outpatient procedure at the Mayo Clinic later this month. In the meantime, Gil Gross will handle the morning newscasts while his daily 15-minute midday reports will be covered by other high-profile names like Sam Donaldson. Locally, Paul Harvey is heard on 570 WSYR.
