Central New York's only classical music station got a big thumbs up from its listeners during a recent membership campaign. CLASSIC FM raised over $60,000, money that will help pay the public radio station's operating expenses. While many public and commercial broadcasters around the country have eliminated or cut back classical music programming, CLASSIC FM has bucked the trend by actually increasing its commitment to the format. "To say we are gratified by the audience response would be a huge understatement," said Program Manager Don Dolloff. "We can now move forward with renewed confidence as we strive to serve the classical music audience and the area's rich performing arts community."
CLASSIC FM is heard on WCNY, 91.3 Syracuse; WUNY 89.5 Utica; and WJNY, 90.9 Watertown.
