Lite 98.7 tops Utica-Rome fall Arbitron numbers

January 27, 2003 by Scott Jameson

It's been a year and a half since the Utica-Rome radio market has had a sole station at the top of the 12+ ratings. For the past two books, Lite 98.7 (WLZW) and Big Frog 104 (WFRG) have been in a dead heat. For the fall 2002 ratings period, Lite 98.7 has pulled ahead of the pack in a big way. With a 12.8, the adult contemporary station is more than three ratings points ahead of fellow Regent Communications station Big Frog 104.Some of Big Frog 104's loss in audience share looks to have gone to Bob 102.5 (WRBY) which moved up from a 3.1 to a 3.9. Fellow Clear Channel station WRFM also saw a nice 1.4 ratings point increase for the ratings period which ended before the station made the switch to oldies at the end December.

Galaxy Communications' Rock 107 (WRCK) and 94 K-Rock (WKLL) also faired well with a combined 2.1 ratings point increase.

Numbers are for listeners 12+ for all dayparts and are not necessarily an indicator of rankings for key sales demographics.
