What could be better for Lite 105.9's morning man, Dave Allen, than sleeping in? How about collecting 2,754,000 pennies for charity?
"It was exciting!" says Allan who is grateful for the community support of last week's fifth annual Lite Loves Kids radiothon which netted $71,069 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.This year's 'Quest for a Million Pennies' was an added twist to the station's annual fundraiser and was a big hit with schools, many of which had each student collect 100 pennies by the 100th day of school.
The grand total from this year's event topped last year's by more than $30,000.
St. Jude is the largest non-profit treatment and research facility in the world.
