Controversial radio talk show host Michael Savage was let go from his weekend show on the MSNBC television cable news channel this week after referring to a caller as a "sodomite" and wishing he would "get AIDS and die."

Savage's syndicated radio show airs in Syracuse on 570 WSYR and on NewsTalk 920 (WKRT) in Cortland. In a statement posted on his web site, Savage said that he wasn't aware he was on the air at the time and that his comments were directed at the specific caller and not the gay community in general.
