Ithaca news/talker WHCU 870 is celebrating it's 85th Anniversary by expanding the news department. The station is hoping to add a full-time position to take on afternoon anchoring and evening reporting duties.
WHCU's Dave Vieser tells AllAccess.com the successful applicant will primarily serve as an evening reporter, along with fill-in duties on "Evening Newswatch," and occasionally in morning drive. The job posting on the station's own website also mentions weekend anchoring, and stresses, "strong writing skills are a must…along with the ability to ask the right questions and work in a deadline-driven environment."

I think it's vcool that WHCU is hiring more news people. With all the lay offs I keep hearing about, it's good to hear some good news for once.
