From the "Where Are They Now?" file, Thomas "Jake" Jacobsen has been promoted to Operations Manager of Regent's Albany cluster. Before going to Albany, Jacobsen had programmed WFRG in Utica and WFRY in Watertown.
AllAccess.com reported on the promotion this week. Jacobsen originally went to Albany last year, to serve as PD for WGNA, Regent's Albany country station. He'll continue his afternoon on-air shift as "Jake Thomas" as he adds duties overseeing the cluster's other four stations.
Prior to working in Albany, Jacobsen was Operations Manager of Regent's Utica-Rome cluster, with duties including programming, music and afternoon drive on Big Frog 104 (WFRG) as "Bean Pole." He used the same on-air name before Utica, on Froggy 97 (WFRY) in Watertown, which was also a Regent property at the time.
While we're at it, we'll make it a 2-for-1 for the "Where Are They Now" file -- among the stations Jacobsen is now overseeing in his new capacity, The Buzz (WBZZ)'s midday personality is Trudy, who moved to Albany in 2004 after spending more than 10 years at Regent Utica's Lite 98.7 (WLZW).
