Regent Signs With Radiolicious

November 13, 2008 by CNYRadio.com

Regent Communications has signed a deal with Radiolicious, making it the first major radio group to make all of its web streams accessible to users of Apple iPhone or iPod Touch devices.

The deal, announced today by Regent, is made possible through a service called Radiolicious.  It's described as "a new native iPhone application available through the iTunes App Store."

Larry Downes, Regent VP of Technology and Digital Media, says stations will be able "to brand the player and create mobile-only contests, promotions and other revenue generating opportunities."

Out of 62 stations Regent owns, 57 of them currently stream online, and now all 57 of those will be accessible through Radiolcious.

Locally, Regent owns four stations in the Utica-Rome market: Lite 98.7 (WLZW), Big Frog 104 (WFRG), Oldiez 96 (WODZ) and Newsradio 950 WIBX.  All four stations offer live streams of their programming, however WIBX's stream is only active during local programming.  The station does not stream nationally-syndicated shows.
