SYRACUSE -- It's been almost 29 years since "Big" Mike Fiss came to Central New York to help launch 94Rock (now Y94FM)... and several years since he moved across I-690 to Sunny 102 (WZUN). This week, Fiss took time to reflect on his long career, and to share some candid thoughts about the radio business in the Syracuse New Times.
In the article published earlier this week (our apologies for not catching it sooner), Fiss talks about the unexpected changes that brought him into radio, and more specifically, into the Syracuse market. He also talks about how "Clear Channel just sucked any fun out of the business," when it acquired Y94FM... not too long before Fiss left for his current job (the exact date of which, Fiss mentions, didn't work out so well in terms of generating publicity).
You can pick up the New Times for free anywhere newspapers are available in Syracuse, or read the article on their website.
