SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME -- PD/air talent Ted Bradford has exited Galaxy's AC Sunny 102 (WZUN) in Syracuse and Hot AC Mix 102.5 (WUMX). Station management confirmed the change this morning, following the sudden removal of Bradford's bio from both station websites yesterday.
Galaxy Programming VP Mimi Griswold tells CNYRadio.com, "Ted Bradford has left Galaxy Communications. We wish him well. We are beginning our search for a new Program Director."
Bradford had served as PD for both stations, operating out of Galaxy's headquarters on Walton Street in Syracuse. Bradford had also hosted the midday shift on Mix 102.5, along with the evening shift on Sunny 102.
Under Bradford's direction, Mix's Arbitron P12+ ratings increased from a 3.6 last spring to a 6.1 last fall. During the same period, Regent-owned competitor Lite 98.7 (WLZW) went from 13.5 to 9.7, falling out of first place. (The usual disclaimer: P12+ is just a general overview of the ratings, and do not reflect any individual station's performance with specific target demographics.)
There's no public indication of Bradford's recent performance with Sunny, as Arbitron has kept the Syracuse ratings under embargo since last spring. Even then, Galaxy does not use Arbitron -- the company subscribes to the Eastlan ratings service, which has never made its data public.
Back in December, we told you Galaxy was looking for a new morning host at Mix 102.5. Griswold tells us Sunny 102 morning man Big Mike Fiss, who we thought was just "filling in" for Utica at first, has been given the position permanently.
Griswold also says the production side of that vacancy was filled about three months ago. C.J. Cater heads up the production department at Galaxy's Utica-Rome studios.
