Updated 3:55pm - OSWEGO -- The newsroom at WRVO is running without a News Director. Station management confirms Chris Ulanowski is no longer employed by the station, a day after his profile disappeared from the Staff Page on the WRVO website.
GM John Krauss confirmed Ulanowski's exit this afternoon, but did not provide any additional comment on the departure. He would only say that Program Director Fred Vigeant is serving as "interim News Manager."
While the "interim" implies a replacement will be sought, there were no newsroom openings posted on the WRVO jobs page as of late this afternoon.
Ulanowski had been working at the NPR affiliate on the SUNY Oswego campus for nearly 25 years, according to a brief profile that has since been removed from the station's website. During that time, he racked up countless local, regional and national awards for his journalistic talents, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Syracuse Press Club last year.
