Z89 Contest to Promote Local Artists

October 17, 2009 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- A new contest from The Beat of Syracuse Z89 (WJPZ) aims to help promote local musicians by giving them some on-air exposure.  The contest is open to anyone in Z89's listening area, and any style of music is eligble for the competition.

VP Programming Niki Schloss tells CNYRadio.com "we're asking people to send us a CD of their original song by Halloween."  She says the station has four judges who will narrow submissions down to the top 5, which will be revealed during a live, on-air special.  "From there, it's up to the listeners to decide who the winner is by voting online," Schloss says.

The winner will be allowed the chance to perform their song live on-air, and the song will be added to Z89's music rotation.

The address to send CD submissions:

Z89 Radio Star
316 Waverly Ave
Syracuse, NY 13210
