SYRACUSE -- Starting next week, fans attending Syracuse University basketball games will hear the voice of Galaxy Communications VP/Programming Mimi Griswold over the public address system.  The announcement makes her the first woman to become a permanent PA announcer in the Carrier Dome's 30-year history.

Griswold will take the mic at the Dome for the first time on Tuesday night, when the Orange host Cornell.

In an announcement released today, Griswold tells, "I’ve been an S.U. Basketball fan forever, been to hundreds of games at the Dome and now I feel like I’m on the team!"

Carrier Dome announcer Roger Springfield (yep, the same Roger Springfield who used to do sports on Channel 3 many moons ago) says, "I just think we need to spice things up a little and why not integrate a female voice into the mix? Mimi has a great voice and TK99 is our radio partner, so it makes perfect sense."

TK99/105 (WTKW/WTKV) is the flagship station of the Syracuse University Athletic network.  The simulcast carries live play-by-play of all SU mens football, basketball and lacrosse games, in addition to the Jim Boeheim Show on Thursday nights.
