Big Frog 104 Searching for Local "Frogfest" Talent

March 26, 2010 by CNYRadio.com

UTICA-ROME -- Mohawk Valley country powerhouse Big Frog 104 (WFRG) is starting to prepare for "Frogfest 22" and that includes an open call this morning for local talent who want to play on the same stage as the national headliner act(s).

A tweet on the station's Twitter feed this morning leads you to Facebook, with a link back to the station's website with all the details.  Interested local country bands must submit one of their songs -- either on CD via postal mail or an MP3 via email.

The station says Frogfest 22 will be held on June 19.  The listener appreciation party has been held every year since the station launched as "96 Frog" back in 1988.  Most years the venue has usually been Verona Beach State Park.  That's the location for this year too -- thankfully Verona Beach is not one of the 41 state parks in jeopardy of being closed by state lawmakers in a proposed cost-cutting move.

No word yet on the national headliner(s) for Frogfest; last year, those names weren't released until mid-May.

Disclosure: CNYRadio.com Editor Peter Naughton moonlights as a part-time weekend personality for Lite 98.7 (WLZW), which is a Regent Communications sister station of Big Frog 104.
