Oldiez 96 Changes Networks

May 1, 2010 by

UTICA-ROME -- Observant readers report a slight format change at Regent's Oldiez 96 (WODZ).  The station is now carrying the syndicated "True Oldies Channel" service, hosted by Scott Shannon.

The station had previously been using the "Classic Hits" service, supplied by ABC Radio Networks -- with the exception of morning drive, hosted locally by Bob Cain.

Shannon hosts the "True Oldies Channel" 24/7, but many affiliates cut away to their own local programming or for other syndicated "feature" shows.  To the best of our knowledge, Cain will remain on-board for mornings.  No word on whether the "Saturday Night Oldiez Party," with syndicated host Dick Bartley, is still in place.  (As of this writing, your editor is outside of the Oldiez 96 listening area.)

Disclosure: editor Peter Naughton is a part-time weekend host at one of Oldiez 96's sister stations at Regent Communications in Utica.  However, did not receive any "insider" or "advance" information from station officials connected to this story.
