SYRACUSE -- There are no more free concerts at the Inner Harbor on Thursday nights, but the venue is just as busy with new promoters hosting a similar event on a new night -- it's called "Wednesdays on the Water." As evidenced by this week's POTW, the crowds are just as impressive.
Our thanks to Citadel Ops Manager Tom Mitchell for sending in this backstage shot of the crowd. Facing the audience are 95X (WAQX) personalities Joe D. and Hunter. 95X is the media sponsor for the concert series, which started on June 23 (when this picture was taken). Wednesdays on the Water will run each week through August 11.
We're always interested in what's happening today at your station, or a look back at something or someone notable from the past. Send those shots to cnyradio@cnyradio.com or upload via the Contact Form. There's a new Picture of the Week every Friday.
I'm not sure where you were, but last year's concerts here were also on Wednesdays, although it was then known as the TK99 Coors Light Hump Day Concert Series, and featured among others the Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet (who filled in when Marshall Tucker postponed due to a death), Warrant, Little Feat, and Dickey Betts among others, and The Outlaws would get rained out. It was pretty much hair metal or southern rock all summer long.
Oh, if anyone's interested this year the remaining shows are: July 7 is a Bruce Springsteen cover band and fireworks; July 14 is Blackfoot (less Rickey Medlocke as he's with Skynyrd), July 21 is Eddie Money, July 28 is Lou Gramm, August 4 is Genesis Rewired, and August 11 will be The Outlaws (and hopefully no rain!).
