SYRACUSE -- Fans of computer whiz Kim Komando's weekend talk show will have to flip the dial from AM to FM starting this weekend. They'll also get to sleep in a bit later. She's moving from Leatherstocking's trio of "CNY Talk Radio" stations over Citadel's 105.9FM The Big Talker (WXTL).
According to WXTL's Facebook page, the Citadel station will air Komando on Saturdays from noon to 3pm starting this weekend. To make room, Peter Greenberg's travel show is shifted to Sundays during the same hours.
The reason for Komando's affiliate switch is not confirmed, but very well could be the result of CNY Talk Radio's recent expansion. While stations WFBL/Baldwinsville and WMCR/Oneida are considered part of the Syracuse market, the newly-added WUTI/Utica is part of the Utica-Rome market, where Komando already has a longtime home at Townsquare Media's WIBX. Keeping Komando on the lineup at WFBL and WMCR would require WUTI to break away from the trimulcast during those three hours.
The tables recently turned the other way in another scheduling overlap between WIBX and the Leatherstocking trio: WIBX lost Laura Ingraham when Leatherstocking assumed control of WUTI. Given the timing of the changes, one might presume the decision was made by Ingraham's syndicator, given that the Leatherstocking stations air Ingraham's full three-hour show live at 9am, while WIBX had been airing only two hours of the show, on delay at 8pm.
According to CNY Talk Radio website, WFBL, WMCR and WUTI will fill Kim Komando's former timeslot with "Watchdog on Wall Street."
