UTICA/ROME -- It's been awhile since we've had a "classic" Picture of the Week! Today, we're going back to 1962, with a shot submitted by CNYRadio.com reader Jeff Moulton. It's a "terrible tie contest" held by WTLB back in the early 1960s.
From left, Ken Cornell, PD Don DeRosa, Joe Tierno and Dave Bowers.
As you might guess, the contest's premise is pretty simple: Jeff writes, "the person that sent in the ugliest tie won the grand prize." No word on what happened to all the submitted ties after the contest was over.
Thanks again to Jeff for sending this classic shot to cnyradio@cnyradio.com. We hope you'll follow his lead if you've got any interesting radio-related pictures to share. They can be classics like this, or more recent shots of what's happening at your station today. There's a new Picture of the Week every Friday. Though, due to Thanksgiving next week, we might just take a break (unless we have a good submission by Wednesday).
OMG, somebody kidnap Jeff Moulton before he can post anymore of those!! lol Actually, Don DeRosa wasn't PD, Bill Quinn was. Wow! I had forgotten that one. Thanks for the memories!!
