UTICA-ROME -- There are now two stations in the Mohawk Valley playing holiday hits around the clock. Just like last year, Lite 98.7 (WLZW) chose today, the day after Thanksgiving, as the date to make the change.
This is the second year Lite 98.7 has gone all-Christmas right after Thanksgiving. Prior to 2009, the station included holiday tunes intertwined with its regular playlist, but didn't let Kris Kringle take over 24/7 until Christmas Eve.
Galaxy Communications hot AC Mix 102.5 (WUMX) has already been playing holiday hits for a few weeks now; for at least the past three years, they've entered all-Christmas mode on the first Monday in November.
Last year, Roser Communications Network's two-station Bug Country simulcast (WBGK/WBUG) offered its own country take on the all-Christmas idea starting in mid-November, but we haven't received any reports of the station doing it (yet?) this year.
