SYRACUSE -- It's not necessarily all broadcasting related, but at least two local media outlets will be in attendance for an upcoming career fair hosted by the Syracuse Crunch. The Crunch and several other professional teams from all over upstate New York will be on hand to discuss job openings within their organizations.
The event is slated for Friday, March 25 from 5:00 to 6:30pm, on the second floor concourse inside the Onondaga County War Memorial, where the Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks, play their home games.
According to an announcement we have obtained, the following teams and businesses will have representation at the career fair: Syracuse Crunch, Albany Devils, Auburn Doubledays, Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins, Syracuse Chiefs, Elmira Jackals, Rochester Rhinos, Sports Physical Therapy, Aspen Fitness, Time Warner Sports, The Score 1260 and many more. (Incidentally, the Crunch face-off against Albany that night at 7:30.)
We're told the opportunities will include a blend of full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships. No word on exactly how many of those opportunities are directly related to broadcasting and/or would benefit from prior broadcast experience.
Those wishing to attend are asked to register in advance through a special website. Have your resume ready; you'll be asked to upload it as part of the registration process.
