CICERO -- All across the nation, amateur radio operators are hosting their annual "Field Day" today and tomorrow, to help draw awareness to the role amateur or "ham" operators can play in emergency situations where other forms of communication may not be available. Locally, one group of ham operators are gathered in Cicero this weekend.
Members of the Liverpool Amateur Repeater Club (LARC) are demonstrating their technology and skills today and tomorrow at Williams Park on Lakeshore Road in Cicero. According to the LARC website, the public is invited to "see ham radio's new capabilities and learn how to get their own FCC radio license before the next disaster strikes."
