FULTON -- Students who attend the Fulton Branch Campus of Cayuga Community College have one more way to feel like they're right on the main campus in Auburn. The FCC recently granted "license to cover" status to a new FM translator in Fulton, which is simulcasting the programming of student-operated Win-89FM (WDWN/Auburn).
This final step of approval was granted on August 11, but formally announced by the FCC today. Records show translator W249CF is operating on the 97.7FM frequency. The station is authorized to transmit with an ERP of 200 watts, with an antenna located 11 meters off the ground at the transmitter site.
The license to cover, officially approved on August 11, will remain valid through June 1, 2014.
From the "better late than never" file, while researching this story we found a June 17, 2011 press release from the college, announcing that WDWN is providing live play-by-play of road games for the Auburn Doubledays. The Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals is part of the Pinckney Division of the New York Penn League. Games started in mid-June and continue through September.
The college says WDWN has broadcast Doubledays away games "annually for the past 10 years and intermittently during the 10 years prior to that."
