SYRACUSE -- Roughly three months after taking the helm of the WIBX 950 newsroom in Utica, Jules Thompson is trading in his News Director business cards for the chance to work closer to home. He's headed back to Syracuse, to become the nightside assignment editor for ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV).
You may recall reading here recently that the dayside assignment editor job was recently taken by Dave Bullard, after exiting Oswego-based NPR radio affiliate WRVO. Those of you who've been in Syracuse for awhile may recall Bullard and Thompson formerly worked together at WSYR radio, as news director and APD, respectively. (Both also handled weekday anchoring duties.)
Thompson announced the new job on his Facebook page last week, and the news "went public" last night, via the Syracuse Press Club's website. That means we can probably expect to see a job posting for news director (or another position) at WIBX shortly; we hope to post the details here on CNYRadio.com as soon as we receive them.
