Former Syracuse Anchor Gets "CBS Evening News" Sundays

January 3, 2012 by CNYRadio.com

NEW YORK CITY -- Former Syracuse TV news anchor Jeff Glor has been named regular Sunday night anchor for the CBS Evening News.  The 1997 graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School worked for NBC affiliate WSTM-TV from 1997 to 2003.  From there, he went to Boston's WHDH-TV before joining CBS News in 2007.

According to a CBS News press release posted on MediaBistro.com, Glor will also continue his work during the week as a special correspondent for CBS This Morning.  The TV trade website says CBS Evening News weekend anchor Russ Mitchell left for another job in Cleveland.  While Glor will take over the anchor desk for Sunday nights, no anchor has been named yet for Saturday nights.

Glor previously anchored the Saturday edition of CBS News' flagship newscast from 2009-2010, before he was assigned news anchor duties on the CBS Early Show.
