UTICA-ROME -- Morning man and PD Bob Cain has exited Oldiez 96.1 WODZ. According to at least two anonymous readers who contacted CNYRadio.com, Cain's departure was announced to staff today, and it is "effective immediately."
A quick check of the station web site reveals Cain has been removed from the jock lineup, and as of Friday evening, a new name is not yet attached to morning drive. Not only is Cain gone, but as of Friday evening, there's nobody else listed for morning drive. The two anonymous sources who told us about Cain's exit didn't say anything about a possible replacement.
Both the Eastlan and Arbitron ratings services show WODZ improved its share of P12+ listeners in the Utica market between Spring 2011 and Fall 2011, the latest two ratings reports which are publicly available. In the Eastlan survey, WODZ ranked 4th in the market, right behind its three Townsquare Media sister stations. On the Arbitron list, WODZ ranks #5, behind the other three Townsquare stations and Roser's CHR Kiss-FM simulcast (WSKS/WSKU). As usual, we'll note that the ratings numbers accessible to the press and the public are "overall" Persons 12+ numbers, which may not necessarily reflect a specific station's performance within particular target demographics.
The spring survey period for both ratings companies begins on March 29.
